Miss Megan Wackes

Miss Wackes

Miss Megan Wackes is currently teaching Art I, Art II, and Art III Honors. In addition to teaching, Megan is an assistant Varsity Softball coach and the National Art Honor Society Sponsor.

Miss Wackes is a 2000 graduate of Westminster Academy. She has a Bachelor of Arts from Palm Beach Atlantic University and also did undergraduate studies at the University of Florida. Miss Wackes was a member of Palm Beach Atlantic's softball team for the 2004-05 seasons. Prior to teaching at Westminster, she worked as a Display Coordinator for Anthropologie in West Palm Beach Florida.

Art I

The Art I course is a foundational art course for the high school student that serves as a prerequisite for the Art II and Art III Honors courses. Students in Art I are taught the basic principles of design, foundational drawing skills, and color theory, in addition to an introduction to Art History.


Art II

Students who wish to continue their study in art move on to the Art II course. The course is designed to broaden students' skills and introduce students to medias such as Printmaking, Pen and Ink Drawing, Illustration, and Photography.


Art III Honors

The Art III Honors course is a Senior Level class. Students who have previously taken Art I and Art II can request to be selected for this course. Art III students are taught advanced painting skills, portraiture, ceramics, and must complete a Senior Project. In addition to in-class assignments, Art III students keep an Artist Journal with assignments that must be completed each week. The Art III course is a challenging art course designed to prepare students who may wish to continue their study of art at the college level.
