WELCOME TO THE ORCHESTRA
FIFTH GRADE is the first year orchestra is offered at Westminster Academy. Some students come with a certain amount of instrumental experience while others have with no musical background at all. For the most part though, students at Westminster Academy have had music classes since they were three years old. In the string orchestra program we start completely from scratch and build an orchestra that, by years end, can play classical and fiddle music in four parts. |

ENSEMBLE
ENSEMBLE comes from an old French word meaning "at the same time" or together. In Fifth grade, we work all year, learning to play simple melodies, rounds, and two part harmony. By the time we reach sixth grade, we are ready to graduate to four part music like professional orchestras!! |
