briggsl@wacad.edu
Leslie Briggs grew up in Rockland, Massachusetts which is located halfway between Boston and Plymouth. As a young child she loved the granite Carnegie Library in her hometown and there discovered that reading opened doors to the world.

Her first job was in the children's room of the public library and it was there she realized she wanted to work with children. She followed her desires and at Bridgewater State College earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education with a minor in art. She taught third grade for two years in Hanover, Massachusetts.

Leslie married her high school sweetheart, Richard Briggs, who is also a teacher at Westminster. Leslie and Richard have two daughters, Lisa and Shelley. During the years Leslie spent at home with the little girls, she enjoyed watercolor painting, singing in their church choir, and helping her husband direct plays.

In 1979 the family moved to Fort Lauderdale to accept teaching positions at Westminster AcademyŽ. For six years Leslie worked as Director of Early Kindergarten followed by 12 years as a second grade teacher.

She has now served eight years as the Elementary Media Specialist. In 2001 was awarded her Master's degree in Educational Media from Nova Southeastern University.

Leslie loves teaching in the Elementary Media Center at Westminster AcademyŽ and plans to continue helping children enjoy reading and learning in every way possible.
