Robert Elmer Click here for ROBERT ELMER'S Web Site. Robert Elmer, author of 38 novels for young readers, helped Westminster elementary students discover excitement in writing from a distinctly Christian perspective on Thursday, October 6, 2005. Mr. Elmer shared how faith and writing skills mix in an inspirational assembly held in the morning chapel service.
Young Writers Workshops followed for each of the grade levels in the Library/Media Center throughout the day. The author revealed his heart as he challenged our students to discover how to uncover exciting story "seeds" in our everyday lives, who can write like a pro even if we're not famous or talented, why God cares about writing, and how it can change our lives.
Thank you, Robert Elmer, for sharing your heart and motivating our students to excellence.

Troy Schmidt Click here for Troy Schmidt's Web Site Troy Schmidt, author of the Hermie & Friends series of books, delighted preprimary through fifth grade students with his knowledge of "weird" insect facts. He then brought to students' attention that many Bible characters had unusual traits, as well. Then he asked, "Why are we surprised that each of us has special attributes that make us different, too?" As the September 28th chapel came to a close, Westminster children were convinced that their own uniqueness was certainly a gift from God. Posing the question, "What if?" was the writing technique used by Mr. Schmidt during each of four Young Writers' Workshops held throughout the day in the Elementary Library/Media Center. Brainstorming answers to that question helped students develop ideas that would make their creative writing much more interesting. The whole process was great fun! Thank you, Mr. Schmidt, for sharing your talent with us.
