Westminster has several swimming programs as well as diving, water polo, and swim lessons
Broward Elite Sprint Team is the US Swimming team training at the Westminster pool. The team is run by Head Coach Dr. Mike Hart and President of the club Tom Fagley. Coach Fagley is also the Aquatics Director at Westminster and the liason between the team and the school. The age group program is coached by Sam Freas III. Age appropiate meets are attended throughout the year as a part of US Swimming and our local association the Florida Gold Coast.
Eastside Stroke School, a part of Westminster swimming, is a program to teach young swimmers the four competive swim strokes plus starts and turns. From this program the swimmer will be ready to join BEST and become a member of US Swimming. Coach Cristina Stefan is the head coach for this program.
Eastside diving is a diving progam for those ages 6 and up. During the high school season they practice only on Wednesday afternoon. After the season practices will be Tuesday, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Mary Shiple, the high school diving coach runs the program.
The South Florida Water Polo Club practices in the evenings from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. All ages are invited.

Coaches at Westminster Pool
Dr. Mike Hart - senior coach - coaching swimming for over 30 years, Coach Hart has developed many collegiate and national level swimmers and is a Level 5 ASCA coach. He received his BA and MA degrees from Iowa State University and is EdD fron Nova Southeastern University. He is a professor of Sociology at Broward Community College, coached the BCC swim team, and is an adjunct professer for doctoral education courses at Florida Atlantic University.
Sam Freas III - age group & advanced age group - swam in high school at Westminster Academy and went to the University of North Carolina on a ROTC scholarship where he pole vaulted on the track team. Upon completion of his Army tour of duty, he started his coaching career with BEST . Sam now teaches middle school geography at Westminster and is the assistant high school coach and head middle school coach.
Tom Fagley started the swimming program at Westminster in 1978, adding junior high swimming and water polo to the program. He and Coach Hart run Broward Elite Sprint Team. He is the Technology Director at Westminster as well as their Aquatics Director. He received a BS in mathematics from Ursinus College and a Med from the University of Delaware. He also is an adjunct professer of mathematics at Broward Comunity College. He has 4 children, 3 of them received swimming or water polo scholarships to college. He has 4 grandchildren and a 5th due in Feb. '08.
